Become a Trustee

Trustees get a huge amount from the role. They have a central role in the work of the charity and can feel a huge amount of satisfaction when things go well.

Being a trustee can also teach you a lot about how charities (and other organisations) are run, giving you experience in areas such as setting strategic goals, accounting, financial planning, employment practice and recruitment.

As a trustee you can be involved in work that you might not yet have had the chance to try as a paid employee.

We’re always keen to welcome new volunteer trustees. If you have experience or knowledge of accountancy or finance, Human Resources, fund-raising or are active in your local community, particularly in the Whitby and Ryedale areas, please get in touch.

Trustees must be over the age of 18 and be able to spare four to six hours each month.

You will receive out of pocket expenses for taking on the role which includes attending a monthly meeting, reviewing business reports and attending various events including our Annual General Meeting.

As a small local charity our trustees are vital and for just a few hours of your time each month, you can make a huge difference to people’s lives as well as gaining plenty of valuable experience.
